Burlington city officials are in the process of considering new maximum building height regulations, potentially permitting new construction in excess of the current 105' vertical limit. The Planning Commission and City Council expect to receive proposals to allow higher structures in the near future.
Don Sinex, owner of the Downtown Mall, has sparked reform efforts with a proposal to construct two 14-story towers, a portion of his efforts to renovate the Burlington Town Center mall. The 150-foot towers would be a part of the retail mall, hold an additional 300 housing units, and would surpass the Decker Towers (116.3') as the tallest buildings in Vermont.
